Thumbs down Holiday Over D2 going home on Lift Truck

    Bummer

Not taking the chance off further damage. Sending D2 & Jayco home on trailer organised by NRMA premium cover. The local blokes down here in Junee have not done radiator in this model before. So will send it either to Davis ( DPL) or Graham Coopers. Thinking about DPL as I like the Transmission cooler and will have that fitted at the same time.
Looks like I am driving home in a Hertz Kia Carnival ( OUCH).

    Cheers Wayne

Jeez, I've done one on the side of the track in the middle of cape york. They are fiddly and time consuming, but they're not rocket science.

    X2

Seems a bit silly to spoil your holiday over something that would take 3hrs tops to fix

If I can do one anyone can

Also so close to a couple of AULRO guys that would of helped you get to a mechanic who could of fixed it, there's one in Wagga.

Slunnie , I know I am being a bit lazy but only brought limited tools and would have to wait for a rad. And also have some concerns with the auto.So might as well take advantage of the NRMAs offer and head home.Need to keep whatever monies I have left so I can keep pouring it into my D2 pit. Baz , As I said to Slunnie the auto also feels a bit crook. I did see a few LRs in a driveway in Junee and was tempted to have a chat with them also. How do you remove the viscous fan without the tools as the shroud really gets in the way of accessing the clips on the hoses. Cheers Wayne

You can jiggle the shroud out without removing the fan, likewise you can jiggle the radiator(s) out without removing the fan. Fan removal just makes it easier.
    Cheers

    Your incident help me decide..

    Wayne,

Sorry to hear about your issues....and in the middle of a holiday

This morning I dropped my car off to my mechanic to get several things done and checked. He said that I should proactively change the radiator as the Disco Td5 Auto now has 160k and is on its original. I told him that I would research this and let him know. So where does one come to research, this site, of course.

Yours was the first post I saw. 22 seconds later I gave the mechanic the OK to replace.....

    Cheers

It's a bugger it has spoilt your holiday, but I suppose it's better to be safe than sorry, especially when towing with a crook auto.

    Hope it's all sorted soon.

I could almost have heard you if you had yelled - only 20K west (Old Junee/Marrar) and fan tools in the back.
