I'm not sure about the LR's but I know that with my previous car when I changed the head unit I had to buy a specific brand of stereo to maintain the use of the steering wheel controls. I chose not to and to be honest, most head units have remotes and it's more habit than anything reaching to the stereo to turn it up or change stations etc.

You DO have an ES so the radio is a UK fitted one, not a Eurovox.
