just a query - i realise this has probably been talked to death over the years but hear goes......

how much lift can a D2 take before you encounter driveline problems? i currently have a 2" tough dog kit but am looking to go 1" or slightly more using spacers - flex is great, just want the angles a little healthier....

part 2 - how high do i need to go to run 285/75 r 16 tyres (33") without rubbing or having to cut bodywork (if possible) is there an off the shelf ratio change that will return the speedo (and fuel economy) to somewhere near normal??? as the V8 with the current 265 MTZ's around town is a sluggish guzzler.....

    Thanks

Brad, i have 4.11's V8, 2" lift or there abouts and 265's at the moment and it is a real guzzler around town and anywhere for that matter. The lower gear ratios and low range work a treat though. At present i use my GPS to gauge speed. i have the truespeed thingy but it still sits in my glove box and has for about three years. I will get around to installing it when the 285's and a few extra bits go on to make it work.
For the cheap alternative give the spacers a go and if it doesn't work out you can always take them back out.

P.S my current set up has worked very well for the last few years and has got me to most places without much fuss.

    Cheers

    Thanks George,

think i'll order the spacers as it's a very cheap way to get some extra height - thats the problem when you go out to play with those Datsun Pootrols.... the 265's end up being a bit small after they've gone and dug it all up (but she still gets thru.....)

The 4.11's sound like a good idea with the bigger tyres (33's) the performance and economy wasn't to bad as a stocker, but it's gone to pot with a bit of gear and 32's..... Just need to find someone who can supercharge the 4L and i'll be happy.... maybe....

Cheers to everyone who posted an opinion - the advice is always warmly received.

    Thanks

    Brad
