    Servicing in Ballarat?

    Hi All,

Been lurking and searching on here for a little while - kids now old enough to get back out camping etc., so time to buy a 4x, and having come from a Land Rover family in my youth (Series I and series II mainly), feel the centrifugal force hauling me back down the path beaten by my father, and perhaps end up beating my head against a wall with regret.

Having said that, on looking around, the Disco 2 seems to be much better value for money in the second-hand 4x4 market than almost anything else, so hopefully I'll get a winning lottery ticket and get a good one.

One question I have is does anyone on the site live in or near Ballarat, and if so, where do they get their Landie serviced? Haven't been able to find anywhere that seems to specialise, and that might be a factor in my final purchase decision.

    Thanks all,
    P76 (yes, it does mean I own one....or two.....or a shedfull....)

I can't answer the servicing question (I live in Horsham and do all my own repairs and servicing), but there is nothing wrong with owning a P76 or two! I used to have one and I never should have sold it.

I used to get my Disco S1 serviced at TJM in Sutton St - but have been doing my own for a while - they've changed owners in the last year or so and I haven't been there for a while.

I'm not sure if this place is still running? http://www.roverparts.com.au The website says they're at 12 Stonepark Drive, which is off Latrobe St (nr Bridges Wade I think?). I've never used them, so can't comment - but they'd have to be worth a look I spose.

    Cheers,

    Marty.

    Hey P76,

Great username, and welcome to the fourm.
Can't help you with the servicing, but glad we've got another P fan on here.
My Dad and I have had plenty and still got a huge shed full of bits. Have an Aspen Green Super V8 awaiting resto, and two still registered - Oh Fudge Super 6 with low ks', and Red Super 8.
Enjoy mate (post up some pics of your P's too)

Mine was Corinthian Blue. What a great colour, looked green on an overcast day.

Forty minutes closer to the hills in a house the bank is kind enough to let me live in

They are running and have excellent service and product knowledge. I am not sure if they do service (I have only used them for parts) but if they don't I'm sure they'll be able to give you an idea of who is worth dealing with locally.

i can highly recommend rover parts for advice and parts supply, they have a workshop and do servicing also, you should find their prices a bit more reasonable than at the dealer etc

Sean and Julie are the ones to speak to, great people

Thanks for all the advice - the Td5 Disco I looked at last weekend was a no - asking a bit too much, and they made the mistake of leaving the last service sheet in the glovebox, which mentioned they had had trouble with overheating in the last little while, so I politely went my own way....

As for P's, I'm in it with my brother, at last count we had 5 lying around and one on the road - hope to have a 6 on the road this summer, as a conversation piece. We'll see how we go. Sort of begs the question as to why I'm looking to buy yet another British car with "character".

It's the British bits that make them unreliable
