you dont need to undo the stake nut to change the o ring, just remove the hub with half shaft still attached.

Wash everything down with degreaser once you have the hub/shaft off, fit and lubricate the oring and reattach hub. (you will need to use the hub bolts to draw the hub back into the recess after fiddling with the shaft/diff line up)

remove disc after 1 and 4 weeks and check for further leaks (in which case you are looking for a new hub)

CUrrent advice is NOT to check the abs sensor unless you are in an operating theatre level of cleanliness.
    Thanks Gerry

So how do I remove the Half shafts?

And do I need a genuine o Ring or can I use a standard one off the shelf?

Worked it out and got an O ring from the bearing joint. Lost about 1 Ltr of Oil from the Diff what should I replace it with? Castrol book says Sytrax 75W and the Penrite one said a 75 Synthetic as well. I have some 80w Mineral oil in the shed would this cause any problems if I used the 80W?

    Cheers

I know little about types of oil suitable but haynes does state a 75w/90r gl5 spec for the axles for the disco and thats wot I used!

i'm guiessing you didn't use a manual then for this? in which case you need to be sure you have the correct torque on all the nuts that were undone.

(Tight enough doesn't cut it with the bolts holding the brakes or wheel on! )

also did you knock out the stake in the stake nut, if you did, you will have to remove it and fit a new one
