Thread: Extending the rear ABS and brake lines

If your particular suspension set-up on your Disco2 has enough travel to yank on the ABS wires, fit the SlickRock Fabrication Disco2 ABS Extension Kit. This kit contains four extensions to extend the four ABS wires at all four corners of your Disco2. The components are made by WABCO, the makers of the ABS system on the Disco2 and numerous other vehicles. Anyone else use these on a 2" lift ? (needed or ?)

I searched and searched the net trying to find the number of these extension lines, as EE are generally quite expensive, so I recon they could be had cheaper elsewhere, but I never actually found anything

For a 2" lift the general consensus is the extensions are not required.

Anyone who has a 2" to 3" lift has usually re-routed the ABS & brake lines to get them to extend. Others who are over 3" lift will need to install these.

The reason why I installed both lines for my standard 2" lift is to make the car look original as possible and not to butcher my ABS lines. It may lead to other significant problems.

Maybe give Howard or Jordan a call over at Rovertym. They can get them for the D2 which are plug n play. Not sure on exact cost.

i have been getting away with the standard ones but as i said they are right on the limit. ive seen the wabco kits but was wondering if it was possible just to go fronts on the rear. prop just easier to bite the bullet n get them shipped over.

Give Jay at www.simtekuk.co.uk a call. He made me some extension lines using the original male and female plugs about two or three years ago.

These were about 3 - 4 inches long and were a simple plug in fit both ends. I think they cost me around £20 at the time.

you must have a really big lift!
im running a genuine 65mm lift and have no problems with the OE ABS lines, redback has a 100mm lift and his are fine also.
there is heaps of slack ABS line in both the front and rear.
the latter car had brackets made up to space the lot down as did mine with the SLS spacer kit.

I agree with Phil - undo the ABS cable clips and refasten them in a more appropriate position for the lift. There is slack in the cable on top of the chassis rail. As for the lines, having them made can be done, but it isn't quite that simple due to the particular style of adaptor on the calliper end.

The extended flexible brake lines are available. or get a pair of P38 rear lines for the front of your Disco (over 100mm longer) and put your front lines onto the rear.
