Td5 interesting fault
Thought I'd post a bit of an observation up from today.
newly purchased 2003 Td5 auto D2a, came in for a checkover and chip etc, fixed a few issues and serviced trans etc but before flashing a tombie2 program I checked for fault codes, had a few usual suspects but a failed wastegate solenoid code showed up combined with driver demand code. I flashed the ECU and the vehicle then became undriveable. Owner was complaining of poor performance with standard fuel map, but now it is into limp mode everytime you stomp on the loud pedal. I ran a realtime screen and noticed no signal from MAP sensor. Zilch. This failure showed 2 erroneous seemingly unrelated fault codes, as the wastegate modulator when tested was fine, and no issues from driver demand appear at all.
This afternoon substituted a known working MAP and presto, tyre smokin', dry bitumen traction control activating Tombie map action

This is the first time I have encountered a failed MAP sensor in a Td5.
