Blaupunkt sound system
My 2001 D2 has a blaupunkt sound system fitted. I assume this is a standard fitment. It works but has 2 problems. On the rare occasions it decides it needs a spell and shuts down. If your lucky, next day it makes a ting noise, like a circuit breaker resetting itself, and may work for the next month or so. I can handle this as my old ears need a spell now & then too. The other problem is that it thinks its night time all the time. Cant see the display in day light. Been through the book but the day/night settings don't make any difference. Any hints out there. Thanks, Geoff

Yep. I have a hint.
Ditch it and ditch speakers too, they are crap.
Get a Alpine head unit with Bluetooth built in and some say focal speakers.
It just sounds so much better and makes you want to listen to music again.
The focals come with the seperate tweeter in the pillar with external crossovers that you mount in footwell. they also have a powered sub that fits under the seat very neatly.
Does cost a bit but its worth it as when you want to sell your car, you can always have it taken out and put old one back in.
Cost is between $400-1200.
I think original equipment is Eurovox.

Hi Geoff,
As Big Guy has said the original equipment is Eurovox (unless you have the ES version-which is factory fit Alpine).
Sounds like you have an internal fault with the head unit iself.
It would probably be cheaper to replace the unit with something more user friendly for yourself.
Just pop into one of the aftermarket radio suppliers & get them to go through some head units that are easy to use &/or set up & also something that you can read during the day. When fitting the unit, it will have a wire that switches to nightime & dulls the unit as not to blind you at nightime.
Good luck.
