    Door mirrors

    Hi folks

I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this little problem?

When we got Kim's car, attempts to adjust the door mirrors by selecting L or R with the joystick/switch were met with both mirrors moving at the same time - usually not in the desired direction.

I took the switch apart & cleaned it with electrical contact cleaner (noting the the big score in the circuit board ) to no avail and have just tried a 2nd hand switch with the same result.

Now, while I accept the 2nd hand switch may be as bad as the original, is there anything else (a control box?) that could be causing this?

    Cheers
    Mike

I haven't had this problem, but rightly or wrongly, here's what I would do.
Firstly I would check fuses, then check switch function using a multimeter. Continuity through the switch for each switch position should be as per rave cd's Electrical Circuit Diagrams. A written discription of the circuit can be found in rave cd's Electrical Library.
If switch is okay (as is likely considering you have replaced it), I would be looking for wiring harness and earthing faults.
Also try disconnecting each mirror connector one at a time, and checking operation of the other. It maybe an electrical fault at one of the mirror's affecting the other.
The circuit seems quite simple and does not seem to rely on any mysterious control box, which is surprising for a LR.
Hope this helps until wiser heads here can comment.
    Good luck,
    biggin

    Thanks Biggin
I'll have a look at that in RAVE - I've got a circuit tester but I've only ever used it for checking voltages !
Better have a look at the manual for that too, lol.
    Cheers & Happy New Year
