How to fix oil leak td5

    Hi All,

Have a few oil leaks in the Td5 that need attention so here is the first. Took the plastic cover of the front which covers the rad fan & radiator to reveal this oil spill. took the plastic cover off but has no oil ring to secure oil inside. am i missing something here. doesn't this need an oil ring or something to seal properly. any help appreciated. cheers

do others have this leak as well and what can be done about it.
simply needs a better seal as it rotates around without it sealing properly or is that to circulate air perhaps... can you wrap something else around the edge of the plastic cover to fit more securely with less tolerances

Thought the same thing when I pulled mine off.
There is an "O" ring but it flatens out over time.
I think it's refered to on Urban Panser's site ..http://www.discovery2.co.uk/camshaft_seal.html

I just used some Ultra Black gasket sealant around the edge. Seems to work.

Mine started leaking a few months ago so I took it into my local bearing place and they were able to supply an o ring which provided a better seal and fit without being hard to press in. Hasn't leaked since. Cost maybe $1.

Looking at your picture you do have a flat o-ring that you should replace

Yep, found mine leaking today. Started it up and it rattled around almost falling out.
Added a dab of Curil as it's the only thing I had in my toolbox and I am away on holidays, and bent the cable tags and cable back against it to hold it in.
Going to have a fish thru my o ring stocks when I get back to work next week.

    Cheers

    Andrew
