Here's the other Maintenance Check Sheet .... for all models from 02MY onwards (I believe in Oz that would be the facelift model).

The other Maintenance Check Sheet I posted further up this page is for all models 99MY to 01MY (Square headlights)

    D2 V8 oil change.

    Hello everybody,

I am a recent convert to Discoveries and I love mine to bits after only 2 weeks of ownership. It is a 2000 model.

My first job was to give it the best wash and polish it has ever had.

    Now to the maintenance jobs.

I will give it an oil change this weekend.
May I ask a few questions please?

    1. I'm on a budget so can you recommend a value-for-money oil?
    2. Ditto for filter. Which do you recommend?
    3. A mate told me a Z9 filter fits. (He has a D1.) Is this true?
    4. Any other tips re changing the oil will be value greatly.

    Thanks in advance.

    Diesel? Then:

1)Penrite Hpr diesel 5, don't go cheap you'll end up regretting it.
2)there are 3 filters to change.
Fuel, centrifugal & canister oil filters
Genuine centrifugal and cooperS for the others--- ring Rovacraft and speak to Stuart. Don't skimp here either!
3)on a petrol maybe, check their listing.
4)drive till warm, park downhill, loosen oil cap, remove sump plug and drain. Remove oil filters.
Fit new filters and sump plug (gentle on plug)
    Fill to level.

    Petrol:
Any good semi or full synthetic oil 10w40 or 10w50

    Gday Skellz,

That sounds awefully expensive for the oils...or is that including all the filters..

    Hi All
Do not forget to do the Serpentine belt and check the pulleys for wear if noisy replace on the 160000 service I did not tell my mechanic to do this and the idler bearing collapsed took out the belt and the harmonic balancer a very expensive repair for not following the service schedule. i usually print out the service sheet out of the rave CD and give it to him
    Regards
    Doug

I just did the 160 at 158 - so idler pulleys and tensioner; serpentine belt; oil change in all diffs and transfer case and transmission (manual mine); check all suspension and steering and brakes; radiator check - pressure and infra red gun for hot spots that might indicate blockage. Check radiator hoses - all good in this case (same for heater hoses) (10k ago I did a master cylinder re-sleeve and then full brake fluid flush and test book bleed - if that hasnt been done do that). I did coil packs, leads and plugs not long ago also. Oil and filter - Penrite HPR10 oil (!!!).

    I think that was all.

    Cheers

Thanks Kev, that is very useful. Any advice for my TD5 at 245K Km? Apart from the usual suspects like oil in the harness, engine mounts, 3 amigos, alternator etc I have not done any work on the engine.

    Thanks
