I considered doing it to mine. The hardest part would be convincing a wrecker to remove the chassis harness, as I had several refusals even though it is quite simple. You would then need to extract the sensor and compressor wires unless the harness was an exact match for your configuration. Airbags, sensors and compressor costs could mount up.

The original pipes between the pump and the valve block can only be installed with the engine out and must be cut (to be discarded) in a specific spot to remove with the engine in-situ. However replacement pipes in 2 sections are available and may have been installed in a vehicle if the original pipes had to be replaced. Mine has 1 2-section pipe because it was replaced.

Wiring harness to the ACE ecu is not part of the standard cabin harness but some wires plug into joiners above/behind the passenger footwell (eg speed signal). Others pass behind the dash/hvac unit bundled with the rest of the wiring. Hence the whole harness behind the dash and out into the engine bay fuse box would be required so that the ACE wires can be extracted.

IIRC there are different chassis wiring harness part numbers for ACE and non-ACE vehicles (& more combinations with and without SLS) so I would not expect the accelerometer wiring to normally exist.

Its too big a job in my books, knowing what I do about ACE, unless you are stripping out your dash and have access to the donor vehicle.

Isnt it simpler to fit a strong detachable swaybar, with remote access? Probably cheaper and money can be poured into suspension, steering damper, or polyairs.

the ACE system is pretty well sorted i think, the only ones we have go wrong are the pumps are noisy and leak,, and the front ram leaks at the seal, that's it,
i think its alot more reliable then the new dynamic response, all tho no were near as good, and a completely different sys

Well I think I will be looking for one with the ACE, if I don't end up with it I will be upgrading springs shocks steering damper and spacers in the SLS.

With a 2 " lift do I need camber or caster adjustment?

    Cheers

Lifting a live axle Disco won't alter the camber (in any meaningful way). A 2 inch lift probably won't require castor correction either.

As mentioned, you shouldn't need a caster correction, its only if you go above 2in you start looking at caster issues. Make sure you space the front cross member down when you do the lift as the front prop shaft has a tendancy to make contact at full front flex.

    OME airbags into coil D2a

I've just put OME airbags, (thanks bundalene), into the D2a ute. I'll put a thread up on what is involved when I get some time.

    It is VERY straight forward.

    Cheers,

    Tim

I'll have become a very desperate man the day I start to take advice from dealers or dealer mechanics... An amateur enthusiast will always know more than a 'professional' salary collector...

I have not had any experience with ACE, so will be following this thread with interest.

The whole idea of ACE is to give a tall vehicle the cornering characteristics of a sedan without shaking your internal organs while on uneven surface. So while corning it makes the swaybar “strong” but while travelling in a straight line it is soft, a trick that can’t be achieved with stiff springs or swaybars…
    Big thumbs up for ACE
