    D1 Smartbar on a D2

    Hi all,
I wanted to fit a smartbar to my D2 but they don't make them. Has anyone here fitted or known someone who has fitted a D1 smartbar to a D2. I know that with some easy mods a steel bar can be fitted but I wasn't so sure if the smartbar can be as easily modified (shortening of the side guards where they poke into the wheel arch).

I've read all the pluses and minuses between the steel v plastic debate, but just can't find info about fitting one to the D2. Being approved by the ADR for SRS compatibility the smartbar shouldn't be an insurance risk like fitting a D1 steel bar.

Yes done 2 now. Just NEATLY trim the bottom of the protruding D2 grille, otherwise it is all the same

A plastic bullbar that looks reasonable.
Its best point is that the plastic has a memory and it will resume its original shape after impact.
Have seen their display at field days where they catapult a log on a trolley into a ute with the bar.Bar crumples then grows back as you watch.
    IMPRESSIVE!!!!
I guess a google will give more info.Very popular on falcoons/dunnydoores in the country as they are relatively lite compared to steel bars.

Great in the bush too, you can touch trees, rocks, rock ledges & not have to worry about anything.
    Cheers.

And in a real impact they're friggin useless

Like Pete said, tree bumps etc.. Great...
    Pedestrians... Nice and friendly...

Hit a Roo or an Emu... Kiss your arse goodbye because your radiator etc are gone...

But you'll be able to watch the bar return to its shape after its finished re-modelling the front of your vehicle.

Seen it happen too often over here....

Good intentions etc... Just a 'feel good bar' for urban use really.

    ADR/SRS testing is model specific...

Bolting a bar from one vehicle model onto another removes this certification.
