Rotary wire brush, put a cup brush on your angle grinder and proceed with delicacy. Watch fingers!

    Lightbulb flares

Well all this cleaning and ""wire brushing???" When I had a better look, the flares have a channel for the double sided tape I used a modified knife and ran that around under the left over tape,[I figger if you are using a sikaflex product you will not need the channel perfectly clean.] where the glue product was used previously, looks to give a good base for the next glueing,as it fills the channel a little and sticks to the flare plastic like the proverbal.I wiped the duco down with turps then with metho put a nice bead of the sikaflex on the flares put them in place on the disco. All looked fine till I tried using the clamps----now I know ---only use the ratchet type with only enough pressure to hold the flares in place. Now the most important bit of advise that I can impart is to read the b----dy ----! #####* instructions on the sikaflex tube.!!!!! Seems there are different types of sikaflex and the tube I had purchased was for all products except plastics etc ... I used copious amounts of turps and all my spare cleaning rags the flares are still on the bench and the disco has one really clean wheel arch.
I am now, when I go to town next, going to purchase the correct glue and I will look for the correct double sided tape D.I.Y. is great fun
