    noises

I took my 99 D2 TD5 (with ACE )on its first offroad run today .
I am wondering if i should be experiencing some noises in the traction control and the decent assist (can't think of the name )
I was climbing a hill ,not to steep, and when the TC is in use i get an intermittant noise like a loud pump valve shudder and the TC light on the dash comes on for a couple of seconds and then goes out again .
Seem to have the same noise on a down hill with the decent button on and the brakes seem to grab and the pedal shudders if i touch it .
is this normal or do I have a problem ?
hope some one can help .

All normal. Sounds just like it's supposed to be.

HDC will disengage momentarily when you touch the brake pedal.

Nothing to worry about, but, make sure you occaisionally make the ABS pump work (like you experienced) ... helps keep the possibility of failure at bay by making that system work from time to time.

    nope thats normal

TC abs and HDC are all the same box of tricks just working on oppisite ends of the spectrum with the same goal of keeping your rubber in grips with the planet.

you should hear the same noise all the time any one of the system is utilising the ABS modulator to do its thing of making the wheels spin at the right speed.

Thanks guys .that puts my mind at rest ,thought i might have been up for a big bill , Ive just bought the D2 .
I am a Jeep fan at heart (own a 97 Wrangler and a 74 cj6 with a Ford 302 )and was gunna buy a Grand Cherokee but opted for the Landy instead .rode better ,diesel against a V8 ,more comfatable .

another thing i hear on it is, at idle i get a "phhht " sound at regular intervals from the drivers side front ,is that normal too?? sounds like a pump releasing air !!
    bet ya think I,m a dumb b#@^&&d .
    cheers

The "phhht" sound is the ACE valve working, all normal.

I can also concurr with all the previous responses about the TC, ABS, HDC causing the mechanical buzzing noise.

    Happy motoring
