no drive in high?? and when you spun the wheels were both frnt off the ground, or just one, do you have drive with the CDL out
Gday All
Out having a play today and Bang !!! something broke.
After getting snatched up and getting underneath for a look Im puzzled but I am a plumber not a mechanic.
Seems as if the passenger side CV let go but there is no drive in high range only low range and also when I jacked up and spun the wheels the tailshaft does not move.
Had it trailered home 2nd time in 5months last time it was the auto and associated dramas.
Any ideas and what normally happens when a CV lets go as it is my first experience with this.
Cheers Wayne

No only one wheel at a time, cant unlock CDL as it activates when I select low range.![]()
ohk,, is that how you have set it up the cld??
i would of thort the diff would go b4 the CV, unless you were on full lock,
drain the diff oil and check it??
if thats perfict feel the cv boot and if you can feel bits floting about in it
You'll probably find either:
The inner axle has broken near the CV. This is necked down as a failure point. Jack up the broken wheel and put on steering lock and rotate it by hand and inspect. Also try to wobble the CV.
or the diff has broken - this seems to happen more often and would explain a bit better. This will also explain no drive. Drop the oil from the diff and look for bits. Also looks for puncture marks at the front of the housing where the diff is. Its usually the planetary gears in the centre of the diff.
When you are in high range and the centre diff is unlocked, all of the drive feeds out through the broken part whether its the diff or the CV/axle. When in low range with the centre diff locked it forces drive the rear axle - and so you then drive off.

There are some bits loose in the gaiter. Pretty sure the CV let go. Still puzzled why the tailshaft is turning freely when I tywist it by hand. Might hav done the duff as well ??
These are the best replacements at the best price.
