If you just want something "slippery" to assist the drawer in sliding in & out, try some UHDPE from any decent plastics supplier - you should be able to buy it in strips.
However, the big disadvantage with this style of drawers is that you cannot slide it completely out without the drawer falling out onto the ground. In my opinion, you can't beat the steel drawer runners for this - they're relatively cheap and easy to come by. I've still got a spare set out in the shed that I haven't put to good use yet - tossing up between building a fridge slide or a slide out cooking bench in the camper trailer.
