Thanks for the reply. Thats a lot of interesting reading. I understand about the tick sheet. Thats whats frustrating me at the moment. Their product manual doesn't come any where near yours, with regards to content and explanations.
Hiya Hippo
Yes of course.
The Faultmate is renowned for being the most capable system there is, so it can cover everything on a Freelander 1, including any of the six possible engine managements.
There are actually two V6 types, one for US spec vehicles and one for rest of world.
Here is a link to a coverage document listing all applicable software modules for the Freelander 1
http://www.blackbox-solutions.com/do...eelander_I.pdf
You should note that we don't provide just a basic tick list, showing only that our system has some settings, live data (Inputs), fault codes and actuation's (outputs) which do not reveal the actual extent to which these are covered, but publish our help pages for each system, which includes an exact list with details for each.
To get to these pages, you can click the embedded links in the coverage document.
For Example, here is a link to the one for the Rest of world spec V6 Engine management.

just like to add for those still looking for diagnostic equipment, i have a hawkeye and the only vehicle that it is any good for is the d2 as it will let you program different systems. its also unlocked for my p38 and is rubbish on it all you can do is read and clear codes in some systems, you cant access security and hevac or becm so if you are just after something for code clearing its the way to go but if you want a proper diagnostic tool then go for the faultmate, i wish i did.
hope this helps.

Hiya Hippo
I am so glad you got my subliminal message. And i thank wanglemooose for confirming it.
I really do not like debunking any competitor. But this world seems to be full of companies who are a bit too frugal with the true facts of what they actully provide for my liking. It's worse with Generic OBDII equipment that promises coverage of all LR models but does not mention thats only a very limited part of the Engine management ECU's only
You can tick a settings or output box on promo literature if you have 1, 10, 50 or 100 settings or outputs. Sadly too many are driven by ticks and price and really do not end up with the best value and functionality for money that there is.
Only a company who knows for sure they probide everything possible on given models and systems would dare fully list what they provide for open comparison.
The MSV-2 is not the cheapest system, but it is absolutely the best value for money and functionality there is. Not one investor in our system has ever declared they wish they had bought anything else.
Mick, i note and admire your absolute honesty, most would find it hard to accept and acknowledge they made a bad choice and post up as such.
Please drop me a PM with your e-mail address. You seem able to quickly an knowledgably tell good from bad and i could do with your input.
Warmest Regards
Colin
Ive just purchased a EAS kicker. I wanted to buy the Faultmate MSV-2 for my Range rover Classic EAS but Ive had no response from my emails, my questions is, can it clear fault codes and re calibrate heights for the EAS on RRC?
Plus, I have been looking at the Lynx Diagnostic interface Lynx Diagnostics but couldn't find anyone who could give me the pro's and cons of the Faultmate vs Lynx; can you help (understand you're opinion may be bias to the BlackBox solution)

Just to properly wrap this seemingly open and un responded to thread up
As the banner we put up on on our web sites home page etc stated, BBS was officially closed for our Christmas and New Year Break until Jan 7th when this threads last post was made. Although me and some of the staff did provide some assistance and emergency type coverage to owners of our equipment over the holiday period.Ive had no response from my emails,
It did take us a couple of days to get through the backlog of e-mails and respond to everyone including Christians E-Mails, directly answering his questions and directing him appropriately to a satisfactory conclusion![]()
