I thought the new nanocom was restricted to one VIN, my mistake. Could I have mixed it up for one of your other products?

The FaultMate MSV-2 is restricted to a single vehicle by VIN if you purchase the single vehicle licence, which is the default. Multi-vehicle licences are also available.

Will be interested to see what the Hawkeye can do on a Disco 2, as it is reported to be less than impressive on a P38.

    Cheers, Paul.

RosiePosie - when we catch up again I have the Motronics V8 module activated on my Nanocom Evo 2 so we can see what it can do with your Disco 2.

Let me know if you are coming down Canberra/Queanbeyan way and we can have a play.

    Cheers, Paul.

The Bearmach Hawkeye handheld diagnostic tool will read and clear fault codes in the Engine ECU and ABS ECU. It will also read live data in the in all ECU's fitted to the vehicle, as well as the alarm system BCU. It will actively test all functions, such as the difflock warning light and fuel pump, because it has a Forced Outputs function.

With the release of Version 5 there is more functions available, including programming the BCU, and keys.

The Hawkeye diagnostic tool will work with all other Land Rover models, provided you purchase additional unlock codes.

I have found the Bearmach Hawkeye to be indispensable.

This diagnostic tool is made by Omitec Ltd for Bearmach, who manufacture Land Rover’s Testbook diagnostic system.

For the full functions that are available, see the link and attachment.

I am obviously a competitor to the hawkeye, and i really do not want to start any trouble or war but i really do feel compelled to respond and raise a few questions as food for thought and fair response.

I really do appreciate your enthusiasm for the system you have purchased, It;s quite natural and understandable, and i am glad you are happy, but have you actually physically compared what the hawkeye can do, like for like against anything else like the Nanocom or MSV-2?

I also do not get these manufacturer heritage and capabity claims you re iterate.
If the manufacture of the hawkeye has such an edge as having devoped the Testbook, can you explain why are they taking so long to introduce coverage of all capability in all systems and are even still missing coverage some systems completly?

I eagerly await your response as no doubt will most members here.

    warmest regards

    Hi Colin,

Speaking of taking a long time to add functionality I was wondering how you were going with the Nanocom One 2.06 firmware update? Any idea when we might see a final release?

    cheers

    Hawkeye diagnostic tool

    Hi Colin,

No, we have not compared the HawkEye and Nanocom. We are looking forward to reading the comparison of diagnostic tools in the August 2011 issue of Land Rover Owner International. Hopefully, both of these tools will be compared.

We purchased the Hawkeye because the current Nanocom at the time did not support the V8 engine, as we needed to read and clear fault codes and live data in the V8 engine’s EMS. However, Bearmach seem to take a long time to release new system upgrades. Nanocom may now offer better support for the V8 engine.

Re the link between Bearmach and Omitec, Bearmach stated in their 2010 brochure: “Designed and manufactured exclusively for Bearmach by Omitec Ltd using their experience in Land Rover Diagnostics.” See further the link http://www.aulro.com/afvb/attachment...9&d=1310613272

However, Bearmach now state in their 2011 Version 5 brochure: “Designed and manufactured exclusively for Bearmach using our in-depth knowledge and experience in Land Rover Diagnostics.” See further the attachment.

    Kind regards, LRT.

An older thread I know- I really like the Nanocom but I bought a hawkeye for my D2 because it appeared to be the simpler to use for the V8, fewer bugs and more social.
