Thread: Nanocom EVO 1.01 Firmware update released.

    Mine arrived in the mail today Colin.
    It's a very nice bit of kit.

    Once I actually figured out the registration process (register at nanocom.it ....... NOT at BBS) everything started falling into place.

    Just ran the Kernel mode update, all went smoothly, and appears to be in order.

    Looking forward to future revisions.

    Yes, i am especially proud of it myself. It takes quite a lot of investment in time and tooling to produce a custom case like that, but at the risk of sounding a bit smug, i think i did quite a nice job

    And it certainly looks and feels very nice. small, solid and robust.
    Much better than the usual plastic stuff.

    I had the benefit of past experience with all our other products, but being an extrusion, you normally have to think only in 2D and allow for parts clearance with a board assembly that just slides in the end

    However in this design, i had to think in 3D, as after insertion the assembly has to move upward to make the screen flush with the outside of the case and then somehow has to be locked in place well enough that the screen is solid to the case. it was made worse in that the case was being developed at the same time as the new board assembly.

    Errm sorry but those capcitors are .3 mm to too high.
    I had one capacitor that we simply could not find a small enough alternate, so i had to use a through hole type we lay on its side and had a hole / slot cut in the PCB for it to lie in. It really is a precision bit of engineering.

    Re registration:
    Dont feel so bad, you are not the first and surely won't be the last. I guess that like many, you simply tossed the bit of paper that told you what to do to one side. In fact it is quite stunning to experience some of what we regularly get faced with.

    eg, i also purchases NCOM013 unlock code but did not see it in the box, or i am waiting for you to e-mail my unlock codes. or i purchased this for my TD5 Defender but it does not work, and comes up with function locked !!!

    So you are not doing so bad

    Future updates:
    Yep i am looking forward to them too.
    It's really been no small job to sort out the broken upgrading process on both the Nanocom one and evolution, especially given our other problems of the last few months, and releasing the first BBS created upgrade for both is really a very significant milestone, we will and can, quickly build upon.

    We are now very much at the point where we can truly combine BBS's years of knowledge and experience with a truly remarkable piece of technologically advanced hardware.

    The next month or two will be very interesting for sure.

    I just hope you and all other nanocom owners will be able to keep up

    I can Imagine.

    Double checked, and triple checked the bag, inside and out.

    Only paper was the 3 invoices, 3 packing slips, and the postal consignment.

    Then the brown paper post bag inside the plastic express bag............ no instructions.

    Doesn't matter though. All sorted now.

    After reading your post out to the Admin staff, there are a lot of Red faces and blank looks round here at the moment d@rk51d3.

    On their behalf, and as the boss, i would like to extend all apologies for any trouble caused.

    To be fair there are many valid mitigating circumstances and the Admin staff here are under a lot of pressure etc, and it is not often that they give me cause for complaint or criticism.

    And they do make a really nice cup of Coffee

    No, don't feel bad about it guys. We're wrapped with the service and the product. Just a few minutes of confusion on my part at first. (I'd bought it for Dad, and he was on his way over to pick it up - *PANIC* )

    All could have been handled via PM, if it came to that. Instead, it just took a little web searching on my part.......... and who knows, maybe I did somehow overlook the packaged instructions anyway?

    Spoke to Dad again last night, and He tells me he's got the ABS funtion running. Cant remember if it was IGN on, or off. And with engine running, it wouldn't work either.

    A little diffferent to the Nanocom1 - from memory. But all working now.

    Trust me, all my staff are more than well looked after enough as it is.
    On tap chilled mineral water, squashes, choices of Coffee, fridges and freezers to keep their lunches and stuff in. Fully air conditioned offices.

    Sometimes i think i am running some kind of a social centre / club rather than a business
