    Hi Colin,

Just for your info, I have found that on long runs (8+ hours straight) the Evo seems to shut down & I have to start it up again.

Doesn't seem to have any issues restarting, but it is annoying when I am logging the data.

It appears to be that maybe the memory fills & then it shuts down to clear, or something like that. This happens regardless of weather I am logging the data or not.

    Cheers,

    Basil

I can put V1.00 on an FTP for you but first let me see if my guys can test that here.

    Basil:

    8+ hours straight
There are limits to everything you know

Tha fat system the nanocom uses can only handle files sizes up to a given limit and i guess this is why it's behaving like this after 8+ hours of storing data in a single file.

I think Basil has a valid criticism considering the D2 is good for 10 hours in the saddle on a full tank.

Maybe there is scope for some sanity checking in the logging routine to check the current file size and if it exceeds a defined limit, the logging routine will start a new file with an incremented filename.

Sure it then becomes the users problem to append the two datasets together, but that is better than loosing data.

    Re-read the original posting:
Without knowing what data and how much is being logged by the firmware, can the buffer be configured as a circular buffer? If you aren't logging data to SD card then you only really need to keep track of max/min/average figures for the duration of the run. There shouldn't be a need to keep 8 hours of data in RAM, and file name incrementing should be easy to implement.

I haven't looked at the new firmware yet, but did the logging issue get fixed, where the Evo was loosing logged data if the log file was not manually closed prior to shutdown / loss of power ?

    Regards,
    Pete

So it sounds like the brightness level is simply not being stored or re used on startup.
I don't suppose anyone knows if this has always been the case or if its some new problem only present on BBS V1.01
Pretty sure the brightness setting worked correctly in the last Mattia firmware. I will check mine out in the next day or two. (Haven't upgraded yet)

    Hiya Peter5111

We have not really looked into the logging aspect of the unit so far and any problems that might exist there that may need sorting.

We are currently mainly concentrating on the BCU settings and Key storing features, but we will get round to this logging aspect and have put it on the wishes list.

I figure the +8 Hour storage capability is something that we might consider differently, based on geographic location. IE, you guys in Oz probably consider such distances as regular, where the best i could manage in even the longest direction would be less than 2 hours before running out of land and driving into the sea

How about an option to scroll through the 5 screens in the Td5instr.app menu to make the Instrument screens hands-free?

Fast/medium/slow type options with a dwell time on each screen varying accordingly was what I was thinking. It's a useful feature on GPS watches so that you can have a lot of different options able to be viewed without having to press buttons.

    Hi all,
I would firstly like to take this opportunity to thank Colin for his participation in this thread and for his positive response to the ideas put forward.

I received my new Nanacom 2 days ago and, having no experience with this sort of device, I am really impressed with what a great bit of kit it is.

However, one thing that has struck me, is that when trying to find a mounting point for it , in my case the lead was coming out of the wrong side. But if the image was able to be rotated on the screen (as with some reversing camera monitors), the unit could then be turned, to bring the lead out of whichever side was convenient.

I do not know how hard this would be to put into the programming but I thought it might be worth a mention.

    Cheers Dave.

The Disco 3 which is a network of ECU's all real time linked by the CAN bus and was developed and introduced by Ford who also own many other brands, utilizes a Common CCF (Car Configuration File) and when i say common i mean to all models.

So in producing a CCF edit capability for the D3 we also had to include options that were not LR related or that we really did not understand.

One was called "Phantom Mode" and one can only imagine what model or function this related to, however i have yet to discover any submersible mode

Interesting idea, and quite likey do able, i will certainly put it on the wish list for consideration;-)

Hiya Dave, I really appreciate your thanks and positive comments.
I can't and don't offer to be able to perform miricles, but at least give owners the opportunity to openly discuss things directly, invite input and hopefully are able to keep everyone informed of developments and efforts being applied by BBS.

At the price point especially and with us having physically reworked it into such a nice robust and compact unit, no investor in one will feel unhappy for sure.

The 180 Degree flip option has actually already been added to the wish list.
