Nanocom Evo Mk2 and Mac OS X
A few weeks back I took delivery of my Nanocom Evo. I finally got around to having a play and creating the restore file. One of the things I was really hoping to avoid was getting the old Sony laptop out to do anything - it only sees the light of day for Rovacom now days.
I went down town and bought a Woolworths (own brand) 4GB SDHC Class 6 card. I know the NE isn't supposed to work on SDHC cards but that's all I could get. Put the card in to the NE and plugged the USB connector in to the MacBook Pro (running Lion) and almost immediately NO_NAME device appeared on the desktop
Into Disk Utility and erased the card as MS-DOS/FAT, ejected the device when complete. I unplugged the USB and plugged the NE into a power source, created a restore file and then took it back to the MacBook and connected it to the USB port. Hmmmm, nothing
run disk utility again, would not mount unless verified
So I ran the verify and it told me it needed a repair, but allowed the disk to mount anyway. I didn't run the repair, instead I copied the RESTORE.BIN file from the NE to my RAID NAS. All good
I'm impressed with the unit so far, the touch screen isn't as responsive as something like an iPhone, but feel that is a good thing as it forces a positive selection on the screen. The fact the unit is standalone is a big plus and I had tried a FaultMate MSV but in standalone mode the NE is considerably better IMO.
