    Hawkeye problem

After yesterdays small fire on the handbrake cable caused by the starter using it as an earth.

Today I connected the Hawkeye and it will give me all features, like abs, suspension and reprogramming.
But when I try to use the EMS function it will go as far as CM hardware version and gives me a number 3, or maths divided by symbol and a 3.
I'm sure previously the CM number had more numbers in its serial.
Select the tick and I get "vehicle unknown"
Has my EMS got fried? i hope not
The Hawkeye manual doesn't have a trouble shooting section.
I tried disconnection the battery in a hop that something might reset, but to no avail.
I suppose if I found someone with a V8 D2 and tried it in that vehicle and it works then it is not the Hawkeye fault but my vehicle

I emailed Bearmach in the UK last night , their email response time is very fast.
the guy could not explain why I am get this problem and asked if I would like to try the software update to version 5.
But me being in Australai caused a missed opportunity so I had to by the upgrade cable to do it. I'm waiting for support in UK to email me back with the new serial code.
I tried it on a TD5 last night and the unit worked ok. Hope my EMS is not stuffed, as it gives connection errors from the plug, I tried a spare Hawkeye cable and got the same symptoms., seems to be something on my vehicle is the problem unfortunately.

Well I got the upgrade cable and disc and started to install the upgrade only to find it hangs with this error " FAILED TO LOAD FTD2XX.DLL. Are the FTDI drivers installed?"
    I'm running Win 7.
    emailed support awaiting an answer.
In the mean time, a miracle happened and I was able to read and clear those EMS and Auto trans problems I was having like flashing S & M Lights, Hooray

Upgraded the Hawkeye using XP, took about 45 mins to rease and reinstall the software.
Version 5 has extras like programing the auto transmission ( not something I'm prepared to play with.)

    Hi It'sNotWorthComplaining!,

We updated our Hawkeye to Version 5 using Windows 7 32bit without any problems.

The reason Windows 7 may not be compatible, is that some older drivers are the 32bit version and are not compatible with 64 bit.

    Hawkeye diagnostic tool

    Hi brettv,

The Hawkeye is worth the money, and we have not had any issues with ours.

We purchased the Hawkeye because the current Nanocom at the time did not support the V8 engine, as we needed to read and clear fault codes and live data in the V8 engine’s EMS.

See the link to the current 2011 Hawkeye brochure:
    Hawkeye_12pp_pages_d.pdf

Here is the link to the vehicle application and function list: Hawkeye_chart_may11_d-1.pdf

    Regards,

    Hi Brettv,
yes very happy, does everything I need to do on the V8, stuff like programming key in chimes, testing all circuits like fuel pump, windows ect etc. dash light tests, outside light tests, airbag
    Trans info and faults
You can program the suspension for airbag to coil, visa versa.
    read fault codes, reset .
Lower car to bump stops. live engine info like airflow, temps, injector times. Key fobs.
    lots of goodies.
    Version 5 has transmission reprograming.
user manual is a bit hairy fairy, so you tend to learn by paying with it, opening the next menu and scrolling, had a play
    Also does the TD5 stuff.

I ended up taking my iMac out to the garage and installed it via the XP Pro I have running on a virtual via VMware Fusion.
