As tombie observed in your other thread:

To fail, an Earth wire needs to NOT be connected properly...
Your eyes and nose aren't a substitute for a multimeter.

Well it on its way, and Ive been reasured that the Hawkeye will do it all..
Also a how to step by step will be with the parcel..
" Offtrack" when you start looking for burnt wires when some thing that has smoked like that, your nose will tell you more than a MM.
With a MM you have to uncover the loom then go through the cover of each wire "both ends" .If you sniff the loom and there is a "burnt plastic smell" that you never forget, if its been burnt. saves a lot of work..
I used to make looms and worked as auto elect. for SLI some years back..
Burnt looms was one job I used to hate, untill a one old guy put me on to the smell trick..
Itsnotwortcomplaining ,I will forward the info I get on to you "if it works".
    Thanks for all the help..

    .
Unless the TD5 has a different security set up to the D2 V8. I wouldn't think it would start.
When I fitted the other ECU from another vehicle, I did the adaptive reset( Which there is a feature on Hawkeye to do that, this is to reset everything when a new component is fitted, ECUs TPS etc.)
My vehicle would crank but not start as the BCU security system did not recognise the hand shake of security from the ECU.
Haweye does not have the function to do a learn security, where as Nanocom Does

Nanocom has the feature of learn security. I pressed the "learn security," which then forces the BCU to accept the donor part. It started and ran after that.
It's just like putting in an injector on a TD5 in the wrong position, the codes don't match or not programming in a new injector, the electronics won't recognise the donor part. It's not all plug and play

Had another talk today with , British 4 by 4 on the sunshine coast. and they were very helpful, as well as sending the new parts they are sending a second hand ECU for me to "try" before I fit the new one. Just to make sure that there is not a problem. There will be a step by step info to follow as well, and the guy I spoke to said that it will" hand shake" no problems..
So I will be waiting for the post man to call, then I will let you all know how it goes......
As this is a first for me, I will step slowly..

So TD5s must have a different secuity system with their ECU to the V8s, unless a new BRAND NEW ECU isn't Vin specific , or the Vin is removed during a chipping

Not sure all I did was follow the list, with a Hawkeye...

    1) Remove rocker cover and note injector codes( on top) like ( NNLCJ)
    2) Connect Hawkeye and wait to load.
    3)Select option 4 Disco2. press tick.
    4)Select EMS. press tick.
    5)Select TD5. press tick.
    6)turn ignition on.
    7) Select programming. press tick.
    8) Select Immobilisation, press tick 3 times, untill test results: correct code recived, press tick.
    9) Select set injector , then put codes, read from injectors, one letter, tick so on until all 5 letters for each injector have been typed in, it asked if its what you want for each injector. tick, are you sure? tick yes...
    10) Select set throttle pot, and set to 3 track..

All done say a small prayer" smile" and it should go..
Thats all I did, took a few restarts until I got the hang of what was going on..
Seems to be ok went for a run and yep all good..
I take no responsability for any stuff ups, do this at your own risk, its fairly straight forward.....

Good to know the hawkeye can sync codes on the TD5. The manual/docs onthe web site only mention enable/disable.

The user manual is pretty poor, you have to have some idea of what is what in order to use it.
