    NANOCOM P38 UNLOCK CODES

Let me start by saying that I have emailed a similar message to BBS but I thought someone form this forum may also have experienced this problem.

In January, 2012 I bought a Nanocom Evolution and the unlock codes for the Discovery 2 & the Bosch V8. ( Licenses 3 & 5) I loaded the unlock codes without any issues, or so I thought. I have used the Nanocom for the three amigos and engine codes etc.

What I didn't realise is that when I entered the unlock codes I also entered one of the unlock codes in the Licence 6 area and saved the settings at the time of saving 3 & 5.

I have since purchased the unlock codes for the P38 & GEMS V8 (Licences 6 & 8) but when I delete the incorrect code in Licence 6 and put in the new code, the unit will not save the changed unlock code and reverts back to the previously saved code. Also the Nanocom does not show a button to access the P38 systems. Any thoughts??

The firmware version is 1.06. Do I need to upgrade the firmware to enable the P38 systems? Will this also sort the licence unlock code issue?

    Thanks in advance.

I understand the last couple of upgrades where for the P38 only. Do the upgrade and I'm guessing you'll have no more problems.

Have you tried deleting the code in UNLOCK06, then saving changes, rebooting the Evo, then entering the code in UNLOCK06, saving changes then rebooting again?

I have no idea if this will make any difference, but it's what I'd try in your situation.

    cheers

Yes Paul I tried that. After I deleted the code and saved the changes, the code reverted back to the one I was trying to get rid of.

    Most peculiar.

I'll ask this only because I forgot to do this myself when I added a V8 unlock code and was wondering why the module wouldn't unlock.

Are your scrolling past UNLOCK20 to SAVE UNLOCK CODES?

    cheers

Yes, I have tried inputing all the unlock codes and then saving and also inputing one at a time and saving but it keeps reverting back to the previously saved (incorrect) code. I tried deleting the code and saving that which worked but when I go back in and input the new code, save it, it reverts back to the previously saved code.

Ok. I do IT support work so I tend to address the bleeding obvious first.

Id suggest next option is to do the 1.07 update and select the overwrite settings option in the updated app. You'll need to re-enter all the codes but at least it's a clean slate.

Thanks Paul. I've been avoiding attempting the upgrade due to my limited knowledge of IT related matters. Can you direct me to a quick 'how to' for the upgrade.

I appreciate your time and patience.

    Hi Neil,

I've attached the instructions from the update help files.

Just follow the steps in the document. The only difference is you need to select the OVERWRITE TARGET CONFIG option. This will wipe the memory containing the UNLOCK codes.

    cheers
