    Disco II Diagnostic Tools

    Hi All,

    I have a Disco II TD5 2004.

I am looking at doing a bit of travelling and think I need to carry my own diagnostic tool.

Has anyone got any Idea on what I should purchase as there is so much out there on the market and reading through find that a lot of them only target a specific area.

I would like to be able to keep track of as many areas as possible at a reasonable cost.

I have had difficulty with workshops and find I am better off doing most jobs myself.

Any help in this area would be great..

    Cheers

    Devo

I've got the hawkeye, and I like it, but if I had it to do over again, I'd probably get something from black box solutions. They seem to do a little more stuff for about the same price.

Definitely Nanocom Evo - BBS service/backup is excellent, although dummies like me have trouble getting to understand some of the intricacies and operation of the many subsystems/options.
Also makes a handy everyday 5 instruments gauge with an accurate engine temp gauge (but still strongly recommend a low coolant alarm), adjustable for any tyre size speedo, duplicate of engine revs, turbo boost and one other I can't recall at the moment.

RRC MY95 LSE Vogue Softdash "Bessie" with MY99 TD5 and 4HP24 transplants
SADLY SOLD MY04 D2a TD5 auto and MY10 D4 2.7 both with lots of goodies

I have just ordered my Nanocom last night. They are more than just a diagnostic tool and my understanding is that 03 MY on have a flashable ECU, which can be done using Nanocom. I have just asked this question elsewhere and I am waiting on a response.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Dave, I have an MY04 D2a and I sent the recommended Jose from TD5Inside the specified files via the nanocom Evo and he then provided me with the upgraded files which I implemented using the nanocom. I think their special deal for AULRO members is still on ($AU340), and the backup service is top notch. They will fiddle with you until you are happy!!
    One happy vegemite.

The reflashable ECU was introduced at the start of MY02. It's used on the EU3 engines.
