    BAS map not loading

I have a BAS map and the Nanocom evo is not loading it, BAS have a firmware for the nano 1 but its not suited for evo. Has any one had trouble loading a map with the evo, it's saying its protected.

I have a couple of BAS maps which I've be given to try out which do the same thing. I've not had time to look at it further than trying to upload and getting the error.

I did notice that BAS .maps seem to have a different internal structure to the stock map files. Td5 Map Editor can't recognize any of the tables, so I suspect BAS is using a different file format.

Have you asked BAS about this?

No not yet thought I would ask here first. BAS have a firmware for the nano 1 to do the job but its not compatible with the evo.

    Hi,

The map should almost for sure be protected against copyright, either being a .tun file - ECU VIN locked - or with another protection to a specific nanocom.

I´me sure Pete or Tombie can help you out with this if you email them.

    Regards

From memory the BAS firmware was a modification that allowed the Nanocom to read protected .maps from the ECU, and had nothing to do with writing.

ADD: This is the thread, and it is "read-all" firmware for .tun files: Nanocom READALL firmware.

BAS are a Black Box Solutions reseller and list the EVO for sale on their site, so I'd be extremely surprised if they were selling maps that couldn't be uploaded using the EVO.

    Bump!

I have recently purchased a spare ECU and want to put my BAS map into it however I have upgarded the firmware in my Nanocom 1 to the latest version (2.08) with the blackbox programmer.

Pete from BAS has a firmware patch for the nanocom that has been posted in the link mentioned above.
I have attempted to upload the patch with the Blackbox programmer but am gettting the 'bootloader' fault when trying.

The patch is for version 2.05, have I missed the boat by already loading the 2.08 firmware? or is it something else?
It is not the end of the world because I can just run it with the factory map since it is only a spare but with various mods and a VNT fitted it would be good to know I have a spare ECU with the BAS map already loaded.
This spare ECU is specifically for remote touring
    Any comment appreciated.

And the BAS map loads into the nanocom as a .tun file

    Cheers,
    Paul.

    Cheers,
    Paul.

.tun files are locked to the VIN programmed into the ECU to prevent the file being loaded onto multiple ECUs. So it's not a bug//problem, it's a feature of the .tun file.

The only way I think you can potentially make this work is if you get the spare ECU reprogrammed with the same VIN as your original ECU.

    cheers

    Thanks Paul,
I was under the impression that the patch for 2.05 in the readall thread would allow me to to load the .tun as a .map file so that I could move it onto my spare ECU.
If I put my spare ECU into my vehicle will it recognise the vehicle VIN or is this assigned to the ECU from factory?
Having trouble getting my head around modified LR software being protected but all credit to the people that bother to do this stuff.

    Cheers,
    Paul.
