I had similar issues, but mine turned out to be the hardware.
Have you tried switching the NanocomEvoKernelManager.exe to XP compatibility mode?
- right click the executable, click on properties
- click "compatibility" tab
- set to XP
This may help the software in recognizing the Evo.
I also found, within Windows XP; you need to install Microsoft's .NET support/software to run the Kernel Manager.
