    Nanocom & Engine torque

    Had the nanocom hooked up looking at an ABS fault, and while fiddling was looking at the engine torque reading.

    Does anybody know how the engine torque figure is generated for the nanocom. I'm assuming there isn't a little hidden dyno in there somewhere.

    It can tell how fast ur wheels are going from the abs sensor then does the same calculations as being on a dyno i would think.

    theoretical value.

    essentially

    RPMS + air+fuel delivery= calculated BHP.

    There is a fixed maximum torque figure of around 400nm. The ECU calculates a requested torque figure which is a percentage of the fixed maximum. I'd assume this is determined is a similar way to the one Dave suggests.

    Interesting, thanks for this. I wondered if it picked up from the auto where I was under the impression there was a torque sensor, the critter that applies limp mode when it's given too much "chip".

    I think what happens is the ECU calculates requested is more than 100%

    The other fault that might be occurring is a downshift protection fault. This can happen when the throttle moves into the kick down range. An example would be accelerating fairly hard in 3 (105kph/ 3400rpm) then push the throttle past the point where the gearbox would normally kickdown. The gearbox will throw a m&s because the downshift would cause the engine to over rev. This fault results in the dash lights but doesn't trigger limp mode.
