Faults, options and Nanocoms - Discovery 2 TD5
Hi all,
I have a few things I would like to check on my TD5, I also may be interested in changing some options, I also have no remote and believe if you have a nanocom I believe you can set a used remote to match your vehicle?
Anyways, is it worth having one for yourself, or, is it beter to just meet up with someone friendly and give them some beer to check out your system etc ?
How many people own them ? I am near Liverpool in Sydney, is there likely to be many people who own them, or, is there another system that is the same or better ?
I know someone with a scan tool but believe it wont even read the LR system due to crippling or not being compliant.
Seeing a dealer wants over 300 bucks for a remote, maybe this is a good thing to have even if someone near me will rent/lend.
What do you say ?

Best money spent on a Disco 2, it will repay itself in no time
You will probably even get close to your money back if ever decide to sell it

X2 siddersC post. I bought a nanocom a few months after I got my D2a. After programming a suspension PLIP, diagnosing a faulty MAF sensor and resetting a number of error codes, it's paid for itself.
Check the electrical diagnostics section. There is a list of members who have nanocoms etc that you can pm for assistance.
You can source a second hand key from a wrecker or eBay and a new case/blade can be found on eBay as well. Otherwise independent LR parts suppliers will be able to supply a key much cheaper than a dealer.
Cheers
Steve

Thanks, will do...
It's the remote part I need , not the key and plastic cover, if you know an aftermarket person making remotes I would be interested in knowing who
