    Hawkeye for TD5

I have a 1999 Defender TD5 and am I correct in thinking a Hawkeye for a 1999 TD5 Discovery ( second hand) will be able to interpret the TD5 engine?
I don't have the fancy stuff like ABS, Electric windows, traction control etc, I just need it to read the engine data.

    Thanks,
    David

No one seems to have an answer and I am not sure I do either but this is my observation.
When you start the Hawkeye you need to select the vehicle type this I think is defined by the license that you have.
My Nanocom can be used for the TD5 on either Disco or Defender but I suspect the Hawkeye is a bit more sophisticated.

    Faultmate vs Hawkeye vs IID

I know there is a lot of of information on here and I have trolled through a lot of it but I am finding it all quite confusing so can I please ask a question based on my personal needs.

Basically I have a D3, I have a moderate amount of basic mechanical knowledge but very little knowledge or expertise of vehicle electronics, control systems and diagnostics.

However I am doing more and more remote touring and am considering buying a tool that is
    - User friendly
    - allows clearing of fault codes and some basic diagnostic information that I may be able to use
    - allows reading of information which I could send to or discuss with a Land Rover specialist by phone, or a country mechanic could use to discuss with a Land Rover specialist.

Can those with experience give me any advice on which device is likely to be the most appropriate for me, or any others I may not have considered.?

Sorry tried to delete it and thought I had succeeded but it seems to have bounced back, hijack was unintentional.

    Hi

I can't answer your question directly but what I can say is Hawkeye can be used for ALL Disco 2s TD5 and V8 once you purchase the unit an go though the unlock procedure.

I would imagine the Defender would ID it's self as that so no you may not be able to use it.

    Cheers Jerry
