    I have an IID tool and it has impressed me by its simple logic and is an extremely capable tool.
    LRD414 you will be able to clear and, most important read the faults as a primary function. When you have a little bit of knowledge and confidence in its use you can program global closing of the windows, DRL etc and other tweeks I have not yet explored.
    The reliability of these cars is excellent as mine was barely unwrapped out of the box and I took it to some remote places around Alice and the Bungles, with no problems. 80,000km later I can say the same thing.
    Enjoy your D4 as they are awesome vehicles.

    IID Tool for me too

    Although I'm using it in a D3, It's clear, concise and, if you can follow instructions, very easy to use.It's also about the half the size of a packet of smokes
    Like a lot of " mature" owners, it's a little daunting to be unable to repair your own car. Or even have any idea where to start looking.
    The IID tool is an excellent device to give you the direction to start looking and will save you absolutely thousands in Dealers charges if you are capable with Spanners.
    Whilst it's not a magic bullet,it will certainly solve some of the annoying issues that have the potential to stop you on the side of the road.
    Like all tools ( and Computers) it takes practice to be comfortable with it.
    One of the features I liked the most about the IID tool was that you can do a "Backup" of you Car's configuration File so that if you inadvertently bugger it up, you can just reload the original and you are underway again.

    The short answer is that you won't regret it at all.

    From the little research I've done, the IDD Tool with Bluetooth looks pretty compelling from a price and usability perspective.

    I'm planning on getting something for an MY13 TDV6 D4. The other devices that seem to get a mention are:

    Hawkeye
    Nanocom
    Faultmate

    I guess my question is: Is there any reason you would choose one of these over the IDD Tool? There seems to be a pretty wide variance with price. Faultmate is quite a bit dearer than the others. Is there any more bang for the buck?
