    UPDATE:

    Will download an XP mode from microblast tonight when I get home(it will take about an hour-I gotta go to work )

    Will see if that will fix my problem..

    try a different cable between the msc and laptop,the one supplied with mine didn't work half the time ,I have had mine working on xp,win7 and now win 8.1,They do like to have an external power supply.
