Really, that much? I sent mine earlier this year. $27 included the bubble lined envelope. I already had it wrapped in some other bubble wrap.
Not sending it DHL was not an issue then.
As for warranty, it was three years old.
Apparently a fuse was blown inside. I'm guessing they think this was because I plugged in the connector at the Nanocom after plugging the OBDII plug in. However this was not the case. From new, I never had it disconnected at all.
In short, the hardware seems a little fragile.

    Interesting Thread

You know it never ceases to amaze me how many times we are accused or believed to be profiteering and inflating true shipping costs to make a side profit when we charge less than 70 AUD for shipping via DHL and even offer a second option of EMS at just 42 AUD.

That the quotes in this thread shows just how much DHL ask to ship the same weight the same distance kinda proves that we get quite a discount that we do indeed pass on to our customers in full.

We recommend DHL only because it is the fastest and less problematic at our end and does not include having additional fees applied on delivery. As has been stated, systems can be sent back by cheaper options at your end, especially if you are in no rush.

Just as we do not attempt to profiteer from shipping, neither do we do so from repairs.

We take each case individually for which I have the final say and I make no apologies for this.

I try as best as I can to apply a fair hand in all cases and factor in all aspects and generally apply a benefit ouf doubt where applicable

In some cases I will approve FOC repair and reimbursement of all shiping costs, in others I will actually approve FOC repairs to units well outside warranty, in others. But in some cases where i am sure the problem / damage is not of our doing / cause, even the newest unit may well be deemed chargable IMHO.

In short, the hardware seems a little fragile.
With the greatest of respect as i honestly do respect that everyone is freely entitled to their own opinions, but just what factual numeric information do you base this statement on. Do you happen to know just how many Nanocoms we have supplied to members of this forum or worldwide over any given period. Do you know how many Nanocoms have to be returned and why over any given period.

These are facts and figures that as part of my job I ensure I have at my fingertips.

Just as we are honest about shipping, i will also tell you that the Nanocom has amongst the lowest percentage failure rates of any equipment we produce.

To redress the balance on this thread can I humbly ask any member who has purchased a nanocom and has no problem with it reading this to post up here just to say as much.

My Nanocom is still fine some 5 years after purchase. Upgrades work flawlessly and the support is better than before BBS. Any piece of kit can fail and a couple of uses of the Nanocom with a dealer visit you've saved both time and usually money.

Relax Colin. I said "a little fragile", not "a piece of junk".
And I was happy with the cost.
Obviously in some circumstances there are issues. Whether it be 95% of the time or 5%.
And no, it wasn't dropped or mishandled in any way.
Overall, a good product for the price.

Hello Colin, I hope you haven't interpreted anything I've said as implying that you are profiteering on shipping, the thought didn't even cross my mind as the quote was from DHL. I have stated that DHL have quoted an exorbitant cost. I'm aware that you don't control their prices. I was staggered by their quote, I've repackaged it in the same carton that you sent it to me in (it lives in this box in the vehicle when not in use), I don't recall what the shipping cost was when I bought the unit but I sure as heck would have remembered if it had been $130!!
We're blessed with a very reliable postal service here in Aus, I know that isn't the case in all countries (for instance, when we send gifts etc to friends in India, more often than not the package is opened and contents stolen), I have no idea what Cyprus' is like.
Anyway hopefully you will have my gadget soon, I need it again! I will live with the postage delay though, the difference was such a high proportion of the unit value that it seemed unjustifiable.

no one was accusing you of anything.
people were complaining about the price of using australia post, at our end.

Not at all. We learned what a 'bad' postal service is when close friends moved to India. The postal workers there consider any parcel that arrives to be a found object, they literally plunder the contents mercilessly. Actually delivering the parcel, even empty, is an optional extra. Give me Aus Post any day.
