I was about to buy a Scan gauge until I came upon the group buy for the Nanocom and although I've missed that,I was wondering if it's worth the extra coin to invest in.The Nanocom seems to have a lot more features and appears to be a proper diagnostic tool,whereas a scangauge is more like a trip computer,although it can remove fault codes.Can the Nanocom be permanently fitted.Am I comparing apples to oranges?
I have a Nanocom and while not professing to know all of the the features and power of the unit, it does provide a lot of information that can be downloaded and recorded and then compared back to following modifications etc.
The main reason I bought it was to diagnose faults and clear codes if required when out the back of Whoop Whoop.

No idea what scangauge can do, but love my nanocom for my TD5 Deefer.
Having a proper diagnostic helps, and I run it in instrument mode to see exact coolant and fuel temps, plus it serves as a tacho cause the deefers don't have them standard.
I mount it to the dash with a phone mount which works off road as well, and I am soldering up a smaller and lower profile cable so it is a bit neater.

If the need is not urgent consider waiting until the next group buy. I missed the one before last and got mine in this recent buy. You may not have to wait an overly long time.Depends on demand I suppose but Colin seems to do these group buys reasonably regularly from what I can see.

I have a 110, I am assuming you have a 90 - if its a TD5 you are welcome to plug it into your 90 or you can have a look on mine and see one in action and test it for yourself before purchasing.
Will be back in early September, and am based in Bondi, heck you could even come out for a drive.

Firstly I've got a MY13 D4 so my experience is using the CANBUS option.
I've only really had a browse through the menus so far but it's easy enough to navigate etc. I could see the suspension values changing as I raised and lowered the suspension as well as various engine functions whilst running. I had a few error faults that I cleared easily. I bought it as a way to alter the suspension height parameters, clear faults, and when competent, adjust settings to change the setup of the car. I won't be playing too much while it's under warranty though. Overall I'm pleased with my purchase.
The only issues I've had was that the menu showed Fuel Burning Heater? which we don't have in Australia. Needless to say I pressed buttons and caused havoc. Dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree but everything cleared and reset itself after a number of engine starts and stops. That's where the Nanocom forum and the moderators really helped. Someone had done the same thing and the moderator was very helpful. There is no problem caused it's just a comms issue because there's no FBH and whilst I ended up with about 80 odd extra fault codes because of my playing, it was a simple matter to clear them. Good experience but heart in mouth at the time. The only other thing I had to do was disable the EDiff check as I don't have one and that causes multiple errors to show up in the device. Once again the forum and moderators showed me the way to fix. It's now setup for my car and I know to stay from the FBH button
To answer whether it's worth buying. I think it is, as a means of diagnosis and fault isolation and fixes especially if you're away from close help. From what I've read on the D4 forum a lot of problems can be solved by simply clearing error codes. If the error keeps returning you obviously take further action but clearing the error can get you back on the road. I hope not to have to use it but for me it's good insurance.
