Right, Well after being messed around by omitec themselves i have been told that i may have locked myself out of the BCU. Im still searching for an answer
Hi Folks,
I am having an issue whenever i try and change settings in the BCU system of my 2004 v8 D2. I want to disable superlock. I have a omitec LYNX diagnostics tool that uses a laptop as a visual interface. I can go into the bcu menu and scroll through diffferent options, but whenever i click the "save" option the software pauses then reads out a issue. its like the BCU has locked my diagnostics tool out and prohibited it from making changes.

After you made the desired changes scroll through all the options untill the end and wait for the software to ask if you want to change factory settings then prompt yes... you are not locked out from the BCU as long as you can go into options if it still does the trick make sure you have above 12V when you work with the interface eventually keep a charger on the battery while you set things and give some contact spray in the vehicle's socket... this might help
Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
Thanks for the reply. Apparently being locked out of the bcu will also disable the engine so i doubt i have been fully locked out.
So i have inspected the obd connection and it looked fine. unfortunately i cannot scroll through the menu and then make a change at the end, i need to click a save button every time i do something.
I took it to a mate who had a nanocom and he had no issues with making the desired changes..! I am starting to think its my LYNX tool that is the issue!
SOLVED. It was an issue with the lynx itself. its being sent back to get fixed. not happy.
Thanks DieSchnelleKafer.
I currently have exactly the same problem on a 2004 Discovery 2 trying to change any of the BCU options. There is little documentation concerning specific module programming so I assumed I was doing something wrong. I can't believe I had to come all the way "down under" to potentially get to the bottom of it!
Did you get the unit fixed? Does it now work as expected? Do you know what the actual fault with the unit was so I can explain it to the Lynx rep here in the UK?
please see:
dont buy a britpart "lynx" diagnostics tool
yeap, they are flawed from the factory and are deamed unfixable by BRITPART!
