sent last night dont know if you all got it but here it is!
Dear Nanocom customers,
First of all we want to apologize for the long delay in the DiscoveryII BCU module developement, that unfortunately is not ready yet because of a damage to our reference diagnostic system.
The diagnostic system will be repaired as soon as possible, so we will do the last tests on the BCU. The BCU module will be available on the 25th July 2008.
In this time we have compiled a new version NanocomFirmware2.01p (patch) that fixes the following bugs:
* Problems with the map file reading
* The "save this file?" question at the end of the map reading is shown for an indefinite period of time.
* The SLABS,WABCO and AS10 defender output test bad assignation.
We have also compiled a new version Nanocom.exe 2.02 (PC software) with the following improvements:
* The software now allows to insert a com port number from 1 up to 50
* Bug fixed in the text report generation
* Graphic viewer installation bug fixed (already available in the previous version).
While waiting for our reference diagnostic system to be repaired, we are defining the developement of the UPGRADE KIT 10MHz to modify the Nanocoms first series to fix the temperature problems.
You can find more information about this KIT in this FAQ.
We want also to inform you that from 14/07/2008 to 21/07/2008 the support service will not be available for holiday.
Thank you for the collaboration
Regards
Mattia

I've just updated the PC software to v2.02 and Nanocom firmware to v2.01p.
Had a problem initially connecting the new PC software to the Nanocom running the unmodified firmware (v2.01). I went to the XP device manager and disabled the Nanocom port then re-enabled it. Connected straight away after that (not to say that was the actual fix though). Just thinking maybe the com port was locked out.
Firmware update went smoothly with no issues encountered.
Text reports now popping up a window asking where you want it saved.

Phil, having had a minor problem with the drivers previously with an old version also loaded, I uninstalled the old version of nanocom.exe before I loaded updated the PC software v2.02 then: Closed the software, connected the NANOCOM, checked its port number in Windows, opened Nanocom application again, set the port number, closed the application and reopened. I have left the Nanocom firmware at v2.01 for now, it all works fine, and I can save the xxx.txt files.

i got the email too. i'm sooooo looking forward to the 25th! BCU control has taken over as my want from ABS resetting. i hate doing the very slow double key click to let my girlfriend in the car. there was a second function that i was going to use it for too. for the life of me, i cant remember though.
My nanocom was working perfectly until I received the email. I had managed to clear all my TD5 fault codes, with a few new bits. Excelent I thought new firmware. I am using the new USB nanocom running firmware 2.01. Followed the instructions to the letter. Firmware version 2.01p appears to load into my nanocom, I get the blue bar running from the left. It then says Firmware loader writing flash at the end it says OK. After that things go pear shapedthe PC says "unable to connect to the nanocom bootloader". The nanocom says "Run Firmware". It looks like the nanocom is accepting the firmware but can not run it or the PC can not start it. Thats it, the previous version gives the same message, so i now have a dead nanocom. Now awaiting the experts at nanocom to help when they get back off holiday.
I am running windows XP. Port settings are normal 9600 bits second, data bits 8, parity none, stop bits 1, flow control none.
PS if i have posted this in the wrong place please excuse me. If anyone can help with the above it would be appreciated and thanks to Timeless for his email, but still no joy
im having trouble with the patch also. this is the reply from nanocom. i still havnt got around to installing the patch.
this is also in the nanocom faq section.
To load the firmware upgrade that you can find in the restricted area of this web site:
- First you have to disable the INSTRUMENT option if it is active. To disable this option you have to give power to the Nanocom keeping pressed key 1 (the first on the left) until the display shows the words "NANOCOM rev X.XX" like the normal startup. Now enter the function STARTUP SETTING of the NANOCOM SETUP menu and select the item NORMAL instead of INSTRUMENT
- Now press OK and ESC until the Nanocom turns off, or cut the power supply
- Connect the Nanocom to the PC through the USB or RS232 port
- Turn on the Nanocom without pressing any key, the display must show the words "push a key or connect me" and the LED must be on with RED light.
- Launch the application NanocomFirmwareLoaderX.XX.exe
- Select the COM port number used by the Nanocom (required also for the Nanocom with USB because the USB device is seen by the applications as an emulated COM port )
- Click the button "Download" and wait for the end of the process.
- The firmware is correctly stored when the "Firmware download done succesfully" message box appears
- Click Ok to close the application

well, sadly the 25th has been and gone and still no BCU update. does anyone know anything about why?
Lots of help from Nanocom with some hidden menu's but still no joy. Exchanged Nanocom. It looks like Nanocom have had a few more with the same problem. My new nanocom is alive, but I have not loaded the new Firmware 2.02 until I find out for definite that I had a faulty unit & its not the set up on my two computers.
