    Considering getting Faultmate MSV2

    G'day all,
As I'm a good distance from any properly equipped LR mechanics and don't like relying on someone else to do stuff I can do myself for $70 per hour less, I'm seriously considering getting the Faultmate MSVII system to enable me to do all my own work on my twin-airbag classic.
Has anyone had any experience with this system? It seems a big outlay (I'm looking at around $1750 for full capability for this vehicle) but then it's not difficult to spend a couple of grand with a mechanic and still not be happy with the outcome. I'm just wondering if I might find myself spending the big dollars and still not able to do what i need to do. At present i'm in the process of refitting the EAS after buying the car with coils. I'm thinking this system should enable me to locate faulty hardware in the EAS system, also reset the SRS light and control ETC functions when necessary. Any advice from people with knowledge of this system would be appreciated.
    Pete

    Faultmate

POD, I have the Faultmate SV for my D3 and consider it a necessity when going bush. It doesn't do all that the dealers device can do such as some settings but it reads settings and errors and resets errors. The messages it gives are identical to the ones in the Land Rover manuals but without the Diagnostic Trouble Codes(DTC's) in the manuals. regards garryc

    Fault Mate

    Hi,

Is there a way on Discos to obtain the codes manually?

For eg, on Commodores you can bridge two terminals in the vehicle computer connection under the dash, this makes the dash lights flash in patterns which you can then determine the trouble code numbers from.

I dont know if other makes also have this or if landys do but maybe worth asking the question before spending the $$ on a computer?

In short, No. The system is much too complicated for such an output.
