    Warning Chimes

    Hi all,

    Re 2000 Disco II TD5

With the help of a friend I succeeded in reprogramming a new key yesterday.

During the programming yesterday there was glitch and Valeo BCU Read Settings ended up showing a manual transmission/petrol engine and a USA car. There could have been other changes.

We have fixed what we thought had changed.

Since then I am getting 5 chimes when I turn key to position II. Also there is no flashing red immobilizer light any more.

Could someone please look at the attached picture. This is how the BCU is set up at the moment.

Any settings that should be changed, could someone let me know.

    Thanks in advance.

    Dave.

    Seatbelt Warning Chimes Off...

These are the settings that turns off the 6 chimes for the 'Seat belt warning sound'.

Just a small hint for those who has to hand the keys over to someone who is not familiar with a Td5 or diesel. I instruct them to turn key on till lights on instrument panel and then wait for the chimes to stop BEFORE starting vehicle. It gives the glow plugs a chance to warm up slightly before you start.

Thanks DavidB....checked Engine Faults at the same time. Noisey Crank angle sensor and open circuit on 4th injector. All current.

Looks like I have some work to do

    Hi feral,

Tried your setup. Alarm chimes continuously.

Tried all changes regarding seat belt warning and sound. All result in continuous chimes.

Only other variance is Unlock option set to SPE (2 presses to open all doors). This gives some safety when my wife drives the car.

I have attached the latest Settings page.

This gives 6 chimes then they stop. Still a pain but better than continuous
    chiming.

    Will have to keep searching.

    Thanks for your help.

    Dave.

You have not changed the 'SEAT BELT WARNING SOUND' to FASTENED

I tested this before my first reply last night. I like the six chimes for the starting procedure and I usually have it set at 'TIMED'

I read the settings, changed Seat belt warning sound to FASTENED, write setting to BCU, unplugged Nanocom and tested start.....NO CHIMES

I then reset everything back to the way I like it and my chimes are back.

Just go in again and change it and see what happens.

    Hi feral,

    Changed again. Still 6 chimes.

I am starting to wonder if output security settings need changing.

By the way. I changed all the settings to the same as yours with the exception of ACE.

Car chimed all the time.Even after starting. No glow plug showed and when you put it in gear the headlights came on.

    Dave.
