Ineos has dumped the agency model.
IMHO The agency model would have worked if they had kept their launch prices and the demand was high. Unfortunately they priced themselves out of their own market, and then their dealers were unable to discount like their competitors.
Ineos in Australia is fighting for their existence. At least now dealers can discount the cars more freely and do deals, enabling them to walk back prices by stealth.
Just today I heard of someone who paid 120 for a quartermaster (must have got a retail discount) who is livid that they are now selling the same car for 99 DA. Ouch.
The few tragics that had to have one that didn't get launch prices are going to pay for it at resale.

Curious... Is there any aftermarket options out there for Front and Rear Diff Locks? I don't know that much about them but the little I do know like having to be in low Range to engage Lockers seems to me a stupid move. I quite often engage my Air lockers when still High Range...
What sort of options is there now for Long Range Tanks ? Is there any and if so, what sort of $$ and what is the extra capacity (re: Wagon) ?
We have only just come back from a 3mth Trip from the east coast over to west coast and did the CSR and the GRR, 18k in total and only really saw 1 Grenadier along the CSR. Stopped to chat to him and asked him how its been - response was that it was built like a tank and had no mechanical issues - only software issues. I would have like to talk to him once he had completed the CSR as he had only just started it. This year the corrugations were brutal ALL the way along the CSR. My 2010 Puma completed w/o issues but it was brutal on the can and suspension. I had my tyres down to 13F and 19R, had my adjustable shocks dialled down and the car still shook like crazy an the noises/vibrations were VERY concerning. The speed you can travel is governed by the track (twists and turns) & the surrounding bush. Most times you're flat out getting above 40 and we found 20-25 a better speed for our sanity...
I love my Defender, but I wouldn't be in a hurry to go through that experience again. Now looking to the future as to what vehicle direction I need to go? It might be back to a old school (no electronics), all coils, solid front diff 80's or 105's ?? I don't believe I could put up with all the new modern tech requirements that come or are required by law in the new cars of today and into the future... All this new Tech is just dumping people's abilities down in imo...

Getting the 4wd system to operate in the grenadier seems quite complex compared to the old defender. I'm sure if you are doing an occasional bit of 4wding then it's probably ok. But I think I'd get annoyed at it all pretty quickly.
As to what to buy as a car for the future. I wish I knew. I'm honestly not convinced that buying another old car is the answer. I don't find any of the new cars very compelling.
My problems with the grenadier are it's smaller in the back than the defender (by a lot), has a tiny tank, and it weighs a like 900kg more than our cars.I believe there are some aftermarket tanks now, but it's not easy and they aren't super big. There are also lots of reports of people doing gvm upgrades and then they break stuff due to the lift. There are some reports of "bullet proof cars" and there are also reports of people having so many problems they give up on them. But that's what quality is about - making them all good not just some.
I think a generation 2 grenadier could be interesting - but that's if the brand persists in Australia long enough. It's good to see they are changing their distribution model as they need more dealers and to stop loosing the ones they have. I think the problem is they consider themselves a premium niche brand while trying to sell a utility vehicle. There are soo many premium 4x4's out there..

Get a Light Truck… a much larger payload, simpler, and no more worries about weight.
Registration (in SA at least) is cheaper by $1100 per year. Insurance isn’t much different in price. No LCT…

Brown Davis do a 68L tank, lockers there would be none aftermarket since they come optioned but would hate to think how much they would be from a dealer.
Plenty of other accessories available though.
I do like the Fuso/Canter trucks although not that convenient to park at the shops.
