To that end, (And letting the cat out of the bag a bit early) the below vehicle will be in my garage by this time next week. The current owner is getting a RWC on it this week, and final transaction will take place after this.

It it is a 1977 Series II - LWB, 4.6 6 Cylinder. Drives extremely well, 42,000km on the clock - yep - and verifiable. Original paint, interior, engine, everything. Just have to wait now which is killing me... What have I done...

I did several Chev conversions in the 80's when I had a small machine shop. 2 x 350, 1 x HiPo 327 ex a ski racer, 1 x Chrysler 340 to TA spec, and 1 x Chrysler Hemi 6 265. All used TH400 transmissions. The Hemi 6 was a good swap. Smaller and much lighter than the Jag 6. Emission control camshaft chucked away, Rochester 4 barrel, split headers from a CM. Usual head cleanout. Around 280-300 hp. Went very well. All of these were so much lighter than the Jag engine the power steering was disconnected. The Jaguar engine is quite bulky and heavy.

The 265 Hemi sounds like a better idea than a 350 Chev IMO. Great engine.

As much as I'd like to do that - not sure Wandong is 'The most direct route' from where it is now to home - which the permit specifies.

Could always tell Mr Plod that it doesn't have GPS so I got lost...

Nice looking bus you picked up Gav.
A few of my mates have owned them over the years and they have brilliant braking and handling.
