I think that's one of Peter Smarts(?), who was the owner of Dakota National Air. He had a few of them on his property and gradually sold them off.

I understood he owned land near Molong, so that's my guess.

I noticed that none of the pictures in the thread were winter pictures.

To provide some balance, I thought I would provide both a summer and winter picture of my Beech Musketeer; as a bonus, you also get my LR3.

For amusement, since it is too cold to fly, today I wanted to make a bit of a change in my CCF file but due I guess to the cold, my battery charger would not charge. It is a new fancy electronic type and would appear to be designed to be used either indoors or in the summer.

While fooling around with the charger, the cable between my laptop and the OBD plug got brittle, kind of like an icicle. I decided that all things considered, maybe the 3 was not designed to be flashed outdoors at -39C, near -40F. It would appear that I am going to have to wait a month or so til it warms up a bit.

Hence time to read forum threads and post pictures.

I don't think many here would like that winter, although lots of Aussies spent time there in WW2 (flying Tiger Moths in the BCATP/EATS).

In the interests of a bit more balance, to complement your 'before' shots here's an 'after' shot of my (I was a passenger) Beechcraft Musketeer from waaaaaaaaay back in 1973 (I think).

The seven names near the bottom of the plaque may be known to some of the AULRO people. This plaque is at the local cemetery located near the Claresholm British Commonwealth Air Training Base in southern Alberta, (located about 150 km north of the US border).



Towards the bottom of the article re the link below, there are two additional pictures and a bit of a writeup as to the events surrounding the fate of the Australians airmen listed.
