Most of those supplied to the RAAF which were amphibians were converted to non-amphibians, and a substantial weight saving was achieved.

Thanks for the Pic's and I would like to say thanks to Shell Australia for providing the fuel for the planes at Warbirds down under, it was enough to convince me to fill up with Shell V max on the way home.
I didnt run into any Locusts out there but a friend suggested I fit a screen over the grill, which I did, there were plenty of other bugs just the same.
The Black Cat was a very impressive machine to see in the air, when it was parked up it served as a brilliant marque for dozens of people, those wings are very large indeed.

With the small numbers of radials flying at any one time at Temora, can you imagine what the sound was like when hundreds of them were flying together during WWII?

Just to let people know (I am sure some of you already do) there is another Catalina undergoing restoration at Bankstown. It will eventually be based at Rathmines on Lake Macquarie.It was flown out in 2008 and made a "splash and go" at Rathmines prior to arriving at Bankstown.
