Thread: Air Malaysia missing.

As the underwater search for MH370 clocked up its first day,it was revealed Australia and Malaysia are yet to agree on who should recover the plane wreck if it is ever found. It will be seven months tomorrow since MH370 disappeared en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 on board,including six Aussies. Initially thought to have gone down in the South China sea,the aircraft is now believed to be in an arc in the Southern Indian ocean after satellite data was examined by experts. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is the lead agency co-ordinating the search but the Malaysian government retains overall responsibility.

ATSB chief commissioner Martin Dolan said they were still "sorting out the details" of who would take ownership of the aircraft if it is ever found. "In a legal sense its a Malaysian responsibility," commissioner Dolan said. "Under international aviation law,an aircraft is the responsibility of the state that registered it. While Australia leads the search we haven't finalised all the details of the recovery."

How do you guys see that panning out? And why would Australia want to take ownership?

Know someone involved in the search effort via our people. Said from the beginning we've been looking in the wrong spot. Reckons a Dutch? team will find it.

International waters, isn't it like a shipwreck/abandoned vessel?

If it is found does Malaysia have the capability to recover the aircraft?

My understanding is it is in our search and rescue zone. Search being the main word here. As for recovery I think that will depend on what they find. If they find it and get black boxes That is what will determine next step.
