The youngest daughter has the DJI mavic pro , and it is something else , very noticeablely the gimble set up and the quality of the footage with the better camera set up. I wasn't prepared to pay that sort of $$ but if you are seriously into your photography or movie making I could see the justification of the extra cost.

The spark will do me for the foreseeable future.

He he - For filmaking try this puppy out - Buy Inspire 2 (Australia) - 6K recording and can fly at almost 100KPH. 👍😊

Starts at $4,500K (drone only - add a camera for the same and another $2k for each lens) and goes up from there but I was chatting to a Proffesional Drone pilot who does cinematography work here in Melbourne and his main rig set him back $90K - it's a masterpiece - and also built by DJI who will custom build anything you want if you have the bank balance...

    Flight equals quad Drones?

Ron, I'd argue that the drones we are discussing are not models - it's not like they are copying full size versions of anything, they are flying camera platforms - at the extreme end of the scale worth as much as some small full sized planes so flight seems to be the right spot IMO. Last report I saw there were 4,365 active satellites orbiting our planet.

Surely 7 of them must overfly Bunderberg?

Maybe there's a big Government conspiracy keeping satellites out of that area because the Bundy Rum factory is actually a secret Military bunker...

    I'd support that view totally.

I've got a Mavic pro and despite it being small - it's certainly no model... great little mobile platform for aerial photography. At a recent presentation I went to by DJI, they had one of their agricultural drones - you program the way points and send it off to spray your paddock .. that thing was about 2 metres wide ( and the price of a small car)

Yeah, those spray drones are something else. You bring the Mavic Pro to Wombat? I'll bring my big banger out for a play - of maybe I'll have a new one by then... Flight equals quad Drones?

    At Last

    Hello All,

I have just come inside after taking my first drone flight. This thread started after my first drone failed to launch. It is currently in Melbourne seeing the drone doctor. My new less expensive Bugs 5W arrived today. After the agonising wait of its battery charging I ventured outside into the darkness.

The compass was calibrated - the unlock the motors button worked and the engines started up. The I pressed the "One Button Launch" and up it went. Then I took the controls and

promptly crashed the drone into the largest feature of my whole property bar my house. Yes my shed leapt out in front of the drone and squatted it.

After a check over - no serious damage was found. I ventured into the middle of the paddock. I gave the flying foxes a scare and flew the drone around the paddock. I also practised the "Return to Home" button a number of times.

I worked out why people have the hard surface launch and landing pads. Sloping ground can confuse the sensor that says the drone has landed and to cut the power off to the motors.

My finale for the night was to land the drone by overriding the Return to Home and landing it in the centre of my trailer. Just beyond reach as it happens! Oh well.

Success I have flown a drone! I should be a bit more competent by the time the first drone returns from the doctor and can actually find that there are satellites out there. The new drone found 19. Tonight I go to bed happy!

    Kind regards
    Lionel
