    out of petrol???

my 1.8 98 died last night a long way from home, resulting in having to be towed home.

I am not sure if it ran out of petrol or not, it was low according to the guage which I dont trust. but i put more in it but regardless it refused to start. pump can be heard working, and after trying a tow start it coughed (as if getting rid of excess petrol). but refuses to fire whatsoever,

according to the manual it says if you run out of fuel to CONTACT A ROVER DEALER??????? are they kidding?

am still not 100% convinced it is the petrol anyway, as it just died with no signs of running low.

any help would be greatly appreciated as its my only transport.

Try the rotor button. it bolts on to the end of the cam under the cap. Very common problem, some people carry spare button in glove box.
