'98 4cyl 1.8 Freelander - Acceleration Problems. HELP MUCH APPRICIATED. '98 4cyl 1.8 Freelander - Acceleration Problems. HELP MUCH APPRICIATED.

Right. I've come here in the hope of finding an answer to yet ANOTHER fault with my 98' Freelander.

The problem I am having at the moment is that I can drive the car around for.... 10 minutes (used to be longer at the very commencement of the fault) and all of a sudden I will loose the accelerator. The engine will still Idle (at first) but I will not be able to accelerate.

If I leave the engine on and wait it out for a couple of minutes (Or turn it off and wait) Then take back off I may get another 5 minutes down the road before the problem greets me again, except usually this time or the next time the car will stall after loosing the accelerator.

At the VERY commencement of this problem I was able to drive through it and continue as normal, now I cannot.

I am hoping that you good people may have a solution, I am completely bamboozled. I was actually trying to get the car ready for sale before this problem greeted me.

Brief history of the car in the time I have owned it:
Engine Replaced a week after purchase at 116,000kms (Thanks honest seller)
 Engine mounts replaced
 New Rear Tires
Tailshaft Removed at 126,000kms (VCU from memory broke)

I was told by the RACQ Roadside assistant he was certain it was the coil pack, i then replaced that, no cigar.

If anyone has any solutions throw them this way!

 Thanks in advance, Michael.
