    Angry can't get it going

    We are seeking advice on engine management problem with our freelander v6. 2001 model.
    Unfortunately we needed to do an engine transplant ourselves and while everything appears connected correctly we can't get the engine to fire. if we spray a mist of fuel into the air inlet she will splutter but not run.
    can anyone offer advice.
    Once underway we would love to join your outings.

    I know nothing about the Freelander but if it's firing on the sprayed in fuel, I'd suspect there's a problem with the fuel supply - either the engine management system of the fuel pump.

    Is there any chance you haven't reconnected the fuel pump power somewhere? The first thing I'd look at is to check if there is any fuel rail pressure. If you don't have a fuel pressure gauge available, perhaps try turning on the ignition then press the Schrader valve on the fuel rail to see if you get a stream of fuel. Have a rag handy! I am assuming there is a Schrader valve on the fuel rail.

    I'm also assuming the crankshaft position sensor is connected - mainly because I don't think it would fire at all without that connected.

    Following on from what Ron P38arover said

    According to RAVE,

    "The fuel pump is controlled by the Engine Control Module (ECM), which switches the fuel pump relay in the engine compartment fuse box to control the power feed to the pump. The electrical circuit for the fuel pump incorporates an inertia fuel cut-off switch attached to the LH front suspension turret.
    In a collision above a pre-set deceleration speed, the switch breaks the circuit to the fuel pump to stop the delivery of fuel to the engine. The switch is reset by pressing the rubber top."

    Quite probable that with everything removed, disconnected etc the switch needs to be re-set.

    1. Has said switch been properly reconnected?
    2. Has it been re-set?

    Judging by my recent form at home in terms of getting things (not) done, I'm wondering if I have a personal inertia switch needing a re-set
