I purchased a 2012 Freelander last year and was told the service interval was 26000kms but the dealer said that most people bring them in every year for a service anyway. Mine is due now with only 8000km on the clock which I'm happy with as I kept my last Land Rover 13 years so I expect the get a payback from regular servicing later on.
Personally I think you are better off getting one that has had the service every year or every 10000kms whichever came first.

I've thought this over, and a car with only 24k on the clock and one service is ok with me. I would be more worried you will have a whining diff around 60k that isn't going to be covered by warranty. Did they fix that by 2010? Mine is an MY09 and it had the whines.
