Koya XJs can be drilled to fit the FL2 and I have found them for $225 fitted. I'm putting a set if Scorpion ATRs in 245/65R17 on with them next month and will post picks. Good bye Cross Contacts, will have 5x diamond turned contrast paint 19" wheels and 6 x Continental UHP 235/55R19 for sale if anyone is interested.
I picked up two sets of Volvo alloys on ebay - one including centre caps for $250; the second for $160. All in good condition; pcd, off-set identical. After getting six shod with Cooper AT3s I sold the remaining two on ebay for $160.
The end result was six wheels for off-road adventures for $250 plus rubber. :D

My Freelander is a 2010 td4_e - namely a manual. To look after my drive-train I was thinking of just going with the 246/65/17 Scorpions. I've always got the trusty Disco 300tdi for the more adventurous stuff that needs a bit more clearance, deeper water crossings, etc. :)
Mine is an 08 TD4 and I've been running 245/65/17's for over 100,000 kms with no issues. The spare fits fine in mine.

I have been following this discussion with great interest. My 2010 TD4_e has the 19" rims and I want a set of rims and tyres for some occasional off-road trips.
A useful site to compare the effect of different rim and tyre combinations is Visual Tyre Size Calculator | Kouki Tech. Apart from side-by-side comparison of dimensions, it also lets you know the change to the speedo reading.
Regarding supply, I've tried a couple of local Canberra dealers but they don't get back to me so maybe I'll check out the Sydney dealer mentioned in an earlier post.

I have been toying with the idea of getting myself a new Freelander.
I hate having mag wheels on anything that I might use for outback travel.
So, I would want five steel wheels fitted with 245 or 240/70/17 BFG AT's,
bolt straight on permanently and mags into skip.
Is there an after market steel wheel readily available ?

There's probably some off-the-shelf stuff from other PAG vehicles, which might well fit the bill.
Another option is to stick with ally & just equip yourself for working on ally instead??
